Teams will compete for the COUGAR CUP beginning April 1 each year and continuing through March 31 of the following year.[1]
The COUGAR CUP will be presented to the winning team each year at the CougAwards Banquet and will remain with the team for the year.
[1] The only points awarded between after finals and the first day of fall semester will be spring semester GPA points and points for the athletic area for teams who did not complete their seasons by April 1.

Unless otherwise noted points will be awarded as follows:
1.TEAM EFFORT: 20+ team members or more than 75% of the team (for teams with fewer than 20 members) participate in programming that supports the mission of the Student-Athlete Affairs program: 100 pts.
2.INDIVIDUAL EFFORT: Fewer than 20 people or less than 75% of the team participate in programming that supports the mission of the Student-Athlete Affairs program: 5 pts./participant
3. DOUBLE POINTS: Throughout the competition various events in each commitment area will be Double Point events. When an event is a Double Point Event, the Student-Athlete Affairs Coordinator will communicate its status through email and on any event materials. Unless the event is sponsored by the Athletics Department and the Student-Athlete Affairs Coordinator or other Academic Services staff member is verifying attendance, a Points Verification form is due to the Student-Athlete Affairs Coordinator within two weeks of the event for both TEAM and INDIVIDUAL efforts. Semester long activities is a max of 50pts./individual.
Commitment to Academic Excellence:
Highest Male and Female Team GPA: 200 point.
2nd Highest Male and Female Team GPA: 100 points
3rd Highest Male and Female Team GPA: 75 points
Team GPA 3.0 and above: 50 points
Study Hall Requirements: 100% fulfillment: 10 points each week; <100% fulfillment: 0 points
Academic All Conference: 10 points per person
Commitment to Athletic Excellence:
Top 3 finish in conference or regular season standings for sports with no conference tournament: 100 points
NCAA (or similar organization for Sailing/Equestrian) first round appearance: 200 points
CAA Player of the Week: 20 points
CofC Player of the Week: 10 points
Wearing other college/university apparel: Deduction of 5 points
Commitments to Academic, Personal, and Career Development:
TEAM or INDIVIDUAL points may be awarded for attendance at workshops, guest speakers, and other events that support the mission of the Student-Athlete Affairs program. These may be sponsored by the Athletic Department and if the Student-Athlete Affairs Coordinator or other Academic Services staff member is verifying attendance, then submission of a Points Verification Form is not necessary. Otherwise, a Points Verification form is due to the Student-Athlete Affairs Coordinator within two weeks of the event for both TEAM and INDIVIDUAL efforts.
Cougars For Cougars – Each season, each athletic team will choose a particular game it wants to be its team’s Cougars for Cougars game. Then other student-athletes will be able to check in with an Academic Services staff member or SAAC representative to earn points for their team. The team will be awarded points either for a team effort or individually, depending on the number of team members in attendance. Please note that student-athletes must enter any athletic event through the student entrance and using their Cougar Cards. Attendance for the Cougars for Cougars program DOES NOT allow for any sort of special admission.
Commitment to Service:
A coach or SAAC representative should turn in a Points Verification Form. The team will be awarded points either for a team effort or individually, depending on the number of team members in attendance. Individual student-athletes participating in community or campus service upon submission of a Points Verification Form: 5 pts./participant
