Four Cougars Earn All-CAA Honors
RICHMOND, Va. – Strong swims from Will Ryan, Alex Wood, and Buckley Powell along with the CofC 200-Medley Relay of Talmage Spence, Will Ryan, Buckley Powell, and Alex Wood earned them All-Colonial Athletic Association honors as announced by league officials Tuesday.
The Cougar men finished sixth overall while William & Mary captured its first CAA title in the sport. CofC’s women finished seventh as Towson earned its third consecutive conference title.
On day one, the Cougars started off fast as the team of Talmage Spence, Will Ryan, Buckley Powell, and Alex Wood finished the 200 Medley Relay in 1:28.49, cruising to a second place finish and new school record.
Alex Wood stole day two with his second place finish in the 50-freestyle, touching in at 20.41.
On day three, Buckley Powell broke his own school record and won the Cougars only event of the Championships, finishing the 100 butterfly in 47.55 which was also good for a NCAA B qualification.
Will Ryan finished third in the 100 breastroke with a time of 55.41. Talmage Spence would break the school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.42, good for a NCAA B qualification.
Will Ryan placed third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:59.10, which broke the school record and was a NCAA B qualification time.
