Guidelines For Athlete Agents
Agent Registration Form
The College of Charleston Athletics Department fosters a culture that provides student-athletes the opportunity to achieve excellence in life through success in academics and competition. In order to affirm our commitment to each student-athlete's mental and physical development, College of Charleston Athletics supports the implementation of practices designed to enhance the student-athletes' academic and athletics experience. A synopsis of the College of Charleston’s Guidelines for Athlete Agents is as follows:
- Agents, advisers, and disability insurance providers seeking to represent current College of Charleston student-athletes in their future professional athletics endeavors must register with the College of Charleston Athletics Compliance Office by submitting an Agent Registration Form and proving registration with the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs as is required by the South Carolina Uniform Athlete Agents Act of 2004.
- Registration with the Athletic Compliance Office is valid for one year from the date the application is approved. All agents must submit an application to renew their registration with the Athletic Compliance Office every year.
- The College of Charleston permits all student-athletes with remaining eligibility to receive written materials from prospective athlete agents so long as the materials are provided to the student-athlete through the Athletics Compliance Office.
- Current junior and senior student-athletes are permitted to have contact with registered athlete agents provided the registered athlete agent has notified the Athletics Compliance Office in writing prior to having initial contact with the student-athlete.
- Prospective athlete-agents may have contact with student-athletes who have exhausted their intercollegiate eligibility.
- Once a student-athlete has signed with an agent, the agent must provide documentation to the College of Charleston Athletic Director and Athletics Compliance Office.
- The program requires full compliance with College of Charleston policies, NCAA Bylaws, the South Carolina Uniform Athlete Agents Act of 2004, and the governing rules of professional sports organizations.
