Patriots Point Facilities Improvement Project

Since 2001, the Patriot’s Point Athletic Complex has served as the home for hundreds of CofC student-athletes competing in the sports of baseball, soccer, softball and tennis. We are thrilled to launch a capital campaign that will address our facilities needs and elevate the student-athlete experience for many years to come.
Director of Athletics Matt Roberts

The College of Charleston Board of Trustees was notified on Thursday by Director of Athletics Matt Roberts of the College's plans to pursue funding for a proposed multi-million-dollar capital project, with the goal of making state-of-the-art improvements to the Patriots Point complex. The estimated $14 million project, designed in coordination with McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture firm, seeks to equip the CofC baseball and tennis programs with the facilities necessary to remain competitive both within the Colonial Athletic Association and the national landscape.

We are excited about the opportunity to enhance our overall experience at the Patriots Point Athletics Complex for both our fans and our student-athletes and coaches. As a top mid-major program, the College of Charleston needs to have facilities that reflect the high quality and competitive talents of our teams. I am looking forward to raising interest and support for this much-needed capital project to elevate our university.
College of Charleston President Andrew T. Hsu, Ph.D.

New Baseball Fieldhouse

A state-of-the-art all-purpose facility with:

  • Team meeting and video room with cutting edge training technology
  • Spacious locker room with lockers for 45 players
  • Remote athletic training facility with hydrotherapy area
  • Outdoor patio and club room for donors and VIP guests
  • Updates to existing batting cages

This is a special day for our program. We are ecstatic to kick off the campaign for the new baseball stadium project at Patriots Point. This will be a game-changer for us, helping us attract recruits and ensure our current student-athletes have the ultimate experience competing at The College. This will be a one-of-a-kind facility all of our supporters, former players and current student-athletes will be extremely proud of.

Cougar Tennis Complex

Several significant improvements to existing facility including:

  • A clubhouse terrace with retractable canopy
  • Back porch with outdoor kitchen and fire pit
  • Lounge area with views of all courts
  • Remote athletic training facility
  • Resurfacing of all nine courts
  • Installation of cabanas on the singles side
  • Court-level storage building
These designs are exactly how I would have envisioned the College bringing our facility forward. These upgrades incorporate all of the cookouts and social gatherings that we have as a program and gives us a beautiful space in which to continue that tradition. I hope these improvements will make our facility even more of a friendly and inviting complex than it already is.
College of Charleston Director of Tennis & Head Women's Tennis Coach Angelo Anastopoulo

The investments in CofC’s baseball and tennis facilities come in lieu of significant completed upgrades to Ralph Lundy Field as the Cougars work in coordination with the Charleston Battery to provide a world-class soccer experience at Patriots Point. The College also recently enhanced its softball stadium with upgraded outfield walls, camera platforms and beyond, and plans are in the works for large-scale updates in the future as the Department of Athletics continues its commitment to making Patriots Point an all-around competitive and nationally-recognized athletics facility. All the exciting upgrades at Patriots Point will also impact The College’s student body at large, providing opportunities for all students to participate in recreational sports activities at the facilities and enhancing the experience for CofC’s club teams.
