Rob Sidwell comes to Charleston from Army where he served as an assistant coach from 2023 to 2025. Before arriving at Army, Sidwell spent a season as an assistant coach at Western Carolina Univeristy. Before Sidwell's softball experiences, he spent nearly two decades as a Florida Scouting Supervisor for MLB teams including the San Diego Padres, the New York Mets, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. While working as a scouting supervisor, Sidwell was responsible for signing players like Andrew McCutchen, an outfielder for the Pirates and 2009's Rookie of the Year, as well as the 2013 National League MVP. Before his professional career, Sidwell coached baseball at UCF and FIU. Sidwell graduated from Flagler College in Augustine, Fla. and holds a master's degree in health science from Florida International University in Miami, Fla.Â
