Ryan Rasco joined the Cougars in August 2026 and will begin his first season as the assistant coach of the men's and women's tennis programs during the 2026-27 seasons.
“I’m very excited and grateful to be joining the coaching staff here at College of Charleston,” said Rasco. “I’d especially like to thank Coach Bruner and Coach Matthews for this opportunity and cannot wait to get started!”
Rasco joins the Cougars after four seasons as the head coach of the Xavier Musketeers men’s tennis program.
During his time at the helm of the Musketeers, Rasco led the team to a strong 2022 season, finishing with 12 wins, which were the most victories since the 2015-16 season. Additionally, Xavier advanced to the BIG EAST Semifinals for the first time since 2016 after earning the No. 3 seed, the program's highest seed in the BIG EAST Championship since joining the conference in 2013-14.
"We are really excited to have Ryan Rasco join the Cougar Family,” said Matthews. “I have worked with Ryan for 10 years now, and he is a great coach and person. Our personalities complement each other really well. The program got a lot better today with the addition of Ryan, and I can’t wait to get started!”
Rasco, a Lake Jackson, Texas native, initially joined Xavier in 2016 where he assisted Matthews with both the men’s and women’s programs. During his time at Xavier, Rasco helped coach six players who earned all-conference recognition.
“We are thrilled to add Ryan to the coaching staff,” said Bruner. “He brings years of experience and a passion for college tennis. His ability to coach and lead young adults, and his vision to recruit players will make both of our programs better.”
