Tanner Samson joined the College of Charleston as the Director of Sales in June 2024.
In his role, Samson oversees all aspects of corporate sponsorships for the Cougars, including strategy, sales, activation, and relationship management. With over five years of experience in collegiate sports sponsorship, Samson brings a strong track record of driving revenue, building meaningful partnerships, and delivering results for athletic programs.
Prior to joining the Cougars, Samson spent time working with Learfield, one of the leading multimedia rights holders in collegiate athletics with over 130 collegiate institutions, conferences, and arenas throughout the country. Most recently, he spent time with Learfield at Duke University as a Business Development Manager where he led key sponsorship initiatives for one of the nation’s most prominent athletic brands. Before Duke, he held a similar role with UNC Greensboro and Elon University.
A former student-athlete, he played four years of basketball at Elon University where he was a team captain and all-time three-point leader with 324 makes. He ended his career ranked 17th on the programs all-time scoring list with 1,320 points and ranks top 10 in free throw percentage, three-point percentage, and steals. After his collegiate career, Samson played professionally for two seasons in Spain and one season in Australia.
He graduated from Elon University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport and Event Management and a minor in Business.
