Wake, a 6-2 center from Woodbridge, Va., went five-for-seven from the field to total 13 points, and claimed four offensive rebounds and six defensive boards for a total of 10 in the game. Junior forward Jen Nadalin also made five field goals en route to a 12 point total and claimed eight of the Lady Paladins' 55 rebounds on the night.
Furman dominated the Cougars off the block, outscoring C of C 36-18 in the paint and 21-8 on second chance points. In addition, Furman forced Charleston into 25 turnovers, and parlayed those miscues into 22 points.
Though Furman shot only 33.3% from the field in the first period, the Lady Paladins held the Cougars to 32.0% in the first half and 28.3% overall. In addition, Furman connected on five three-pointers on the night for a 33.3% mark, while holding Charleston to only one made three pointer on 12 shots.
With the win Furman improves to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in Southern Conference play, while the Cougars fall to 4-11 overall and 2-7 in the league. Furman will host Georgia Southern Monday at 7 p.m. at Timmons Arena, while College of Charleston faces Wofford in a 5 p.m. game in Spartanburg, S.C.
