Chattanooga finished 25-2 overall and 20-0 in the SoCon, which was the first perfect league season in school history and just the second such feat in league history. The 1995-96 Appalachian State squad went 14-0.
It was a tight game through the first 13 minutes and Charleston had sliced what was a nine-point UTC cushion to 22-19 with 7:38 on the clock. Chattanooga outscored the Cougars 25-4 the rest of the half and controlled the game at intermission 47-23.
The Lady Mocs got their transition game going and converted layups and three-point plays to take command. They continued to build on the lead in the second half and led by 40 in the game's waning seconds.
Three players had eight rebounds as UTC won the board war 47-37. Tiffany Patton, Warfield and Roberson each had eight boards.
College of Charleston (6-21 overall, 4-16 SoCon) was led by Shanna Mickens' 11 points. Melissa Chambers scored eight and Marketta Talley seven. Rachel King picked up five assists, and Carrie Geden grabbed six rebounds.
Both teams won't play again until next week's Southern Conference Tournament, which will be played in Charleston, S.C. Chattanooga is the No. 1 seed for the fifth consecutive year and will play on Thursday against the winner of No. 8 seed vs. No. 9 seed. The Cougars will be the 10th seed and play the tournament's No. 7 seed.
