The College of Charleston's home Southern Conference match win streak ended with Elon snapping the 49-match win streak with its 3-2 win over the Cougars.
Charleston (14-6, 8-1 SoCon) took the first two games, 30-16 and 30-28, before the Phoenix won the final three, 33-31, 30-25 and 15-10.
The Cougars were paced by Emily Sawin, who recorded her seventh double-double of the season, with 18 kills and 12 digs on .250 hitting, and Tiffany Blum with 18 kills and six blocks on .208 hitting.
Annie Uthe had 11 kills, hitting a .304 clip, and Deanna Patrick rounded out double-digit kills with 10. Lindsey Kane, who had a career-best .571 hitting, added nine kills and dished out 53 assists.
Charleston's defensive effort was anchored by Marie Dobrenz with 23 digs and Alexis Lowes with 21 digs.
The Cougars will host Appalachian State on Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. and Davidson on Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. Elon will face UNC Greensboro on Oct. 17 in Greensboro, N.C
