Cougars Remain Undefeated in SoCon

College of Charleston won its 48th straight conference match and took the outright lead in the Southern Conference as the Cougars defeated Furman 3-1 (28-30, 30-22, 30-21, 30-18) in volleyball action on Saturday.
Charleston (11-5, 5-0 SoCon) was led by Annie Uthe and Deanna Patrick with 12 kills apiece. Uthe added five blocks, hitting a .269 clip. Patrick hit .212 for the match.
Emily Sawin tallied 10 kills on .156 hitting and notched nine digs. Alexis Lowes had 10 digs and six kills while hitting a .294 clip.
Tiffany Blum added nine kills and five blocks.
Marie Dobrenz anchored the defensive effort with 29 digs, and Lindsey Kane had 44 assists.
Furman (8-8, 4-1 SoCon) was led by Chibuzo Aguocha with a match-high 17 kills.
Charleston travels to Western Carolina for a 7 p.m. match on Oct. 6 and heads to Chattanooga on Oct. 7 for a 2 p.m. match.
