
CofC Beats Citadel, 66-48: Advances In SoCon Tournament

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Antwaine Wiggins scored 13 points and Jermaine Johnson had seven points and 13 rebounds to lead the College of Charleston to a 66-48 win over The Citadel on Friday night in the opening round of the Southern Conference tournament.
The sixth-seeded Cougars (15-16) advance to play No. 3 seed Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals Saturday night. The Bulldogs end their season 6-24. Charleston has now won at least 15 games in each of the past 29 seasons.
Charleston never trailed as it beat The Citadel for the third time this season.
The final tie of the game came with 13:24 remaining when Daniel Eykyn's three-point play knotted the game at 36.
But it took the Cougars a while to pull away. They led just 45-42 with under eight minutes to go before ending the game on a 21-6 run.
Charleston shot 53.5 percent (23-of-43) from the field, while the Bulldogs shot 40.4 percent (19-of-47).
Austin Dahn scored 17 points to lead The Citadel, while Cameron Wells added 10 points.
