
CofC Beats Samford, 81-74

Andrew Goudelock (Lilburn, Ga.) scored 19 points and Tony White, Jr. (Knoxville, Tenn.) dished out a career-high tying seven assists as the College of Charleston held on for an 81-74 Southern Conference victory over Samford before 3,563 at Carolina First Arena on Monday.
With the win, the Cougars improved to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in SoCon play. Samford fell to 6-8 and 1-4.
In the first half, the Cougars were paced by the hot hand of Goudelock, who ended the half with 13 points on 5-6 shooting from the field (he was also 3-3 from the three-point line in the period). Samford kept the game close throughout the half, but an 8-0 run at the five-minute mark helped the Cougars to a 42-34 lead at intermission. Dustin Scott (Jamestown, S.C.) added nine points for Charleston in the period, while White had eight points.
In the second half, the Cougars extended their lead to 52-39 with 15:52 left. Samford eventually closed the margin to 79-72 with 39.2 seconds left, but White hit a pair of free throws with 32 seconds left secured the Cougars eighth straight win over the Bulldogs.
For the game, Goudelock paced four Cougars in double figures. Antwaine Wiggins (Greeneville, Tenn.) added 17 points, Scott had 16 and White tallied 14 points.
For Samford, Montgomery and Bryan Friday each finished with a game-high 20 points.
The College of Charleston returns to action on Thursday, Jan, 15th, when they hit the road to take on Wofford at 7 p.m.
