ICSA Sloop National Championships

Sailors Finish Fifth at ICSA Sloop Nationals

The College of Charleston sailing team placed in the top five in six of 10 races and won two of them to finish fifth at the ICSA Sloop National Championships held Oct. 23-25 at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. Charleston totaled 46 points, just seven shy of the top three. Boston College posted 26 point to win the Cornelius Shields, Sr. Trophy.
St. Mary's finished second, while Navy came in third. Fourth belonged to Brown as the Bears just edged the Cougars with 43 points.
Jackson Benvenutti (Bay St. Louis, Miss.), Cole Allsopp (Annapolis, Md.), Zeke Horowitz (Sarasota, Fla.) and Brooks Clark (Newport Beach, Calif.) competed for the Cougars.
The Cougars compete Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Victorian Urn and Schell Trophy Regattas being held in Boston, Mass., as well as the SAISA Fall Dinghy Championship in St. Petersburg, Fla.
