
Sailing Team Captures Third at Hoyt Trophy

Allison Blecher (Fullerton, Calif.), Jeffrey Aschieris (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Alyssa Aitken (Sandwich, Mass.) sailed the B-Division to second place and lead the College of Charleston sailing team to third at the Sherman Hoyt Trophy Regatta held Oct. 24-25 at Brown in Providence, R.I. Charleston's 168 points was just one shy of Boston College in second place. Yale won the event with a two-day total of 155.
Both the A and B-Division sailed in 14 races, with the Cougars earning the win in eight of them and placing the top five in 10 others. Juan Maegli (Guatemala) and Perry Emsiek (Corona del Mar, Calif.) sailed in the A-Division and finished with 82 points for third, while Blecher, Aschieris and Aitken finished second with 86 points.
The Cougars compete Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Victorian Urn and Schell Trophy Regattas being held in Boston, Mass, as well as the SAISA Fall Dinghy Championship in St. Petersburg, Fla.
