CofC Equestrian Places 4th at IHSA Nationals

The College of Charleston equestrian team finished fourth in the 2009 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association's National Championship held at Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Sophomore Caitlin Smith captured first place in the Team Intermediate Flat Division on Thursday earning the team's first seven points. On Friday, sophomore Crystal Threlfall added five points by finishing second in the Team Intermediate Fences. Senior Erica Carson added another two points with a fifth place finish in the Team Walk-Trot division.
In addition to the team competition, Smith earned a seventh place finish in the Individual Intermediate Division. Junior Wesley Laudeman finished 10th in the Individual Intermediate Fences competition.
The IHSA was established in 1967 and has over 7,000 riders competing in 31 regions in nine Zones with 300 member colleges. The top 18 teams in the country advance to Nationals.
This was coach Bob Story's 22nd trip to the IHSA Nationals. Story is in his 18th season as head coach of the
