College of Charleston Sailing Opens Season with a Second at Charleston Open

The College of Charleston sailing team opened the 2009-10 season with a second place finish at the Charleston Open held Sept. 12-13 at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Center in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The Cougars posted 44 points, just four shy of regatta winner South Florida.
Cougars Breandon Faria and Alexis Scott sailed the A-Division to fifth place with 31 points, while Brooks Clark, Chris Banholzer, Deborah Ong and Sarah Somes placed second in the B-Division with 13 points, just one away from South Florida, which won the division.
Charleston won four of 12 races and finished in the top 8 in the rest of them, including five top fives.
The Cougars are back in action Sept. 19-20 when then travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for North Points #2, to Hanover, N.H. for the Mrs. Hurst Trophy and Boston, Mass., for the Hatch Brown Intersectional.
