Head Coach Nancy Wilson
On her team's performance against Furman
“We're glad to get a win today. Furman is just such a strong offensive team and they are tough to beat, tough to put away. I felt like we were taking good shots but we weren't able to hold them. We cut back on their production and we got really good production from every body that played”.
Speaking on the quality of the Cougars guard play
“I thought Ericka Williams did some great things, solid play at the point for us and we're glad to have the win. Jade is sick so she did great to play so hard and shoot so well and I'm proud of her for that. Every time they were starting to close the gap it seemed like one of those two did something to keep us going”.
On Brooke Kotcella
“She is just such a strong girl and she is going after it. We've talked about the fact that we need those boards, how important it is to win them. She's just muscling in there and getting them”
About the upcoming Western Carolina game
“I don't think we think of it as a rematch from the conference finals anymore but we do very much think of them as a team we respect. We beat them 68-61 earlier in the season but they were ahead at halftime and they have one of the best players in the league. If Emily Clark is having a great day, then they are very scary. Every game we play from here on out could go either way. We'll have to be at our best when we go to Western Carolina”.
Brooke Kotcella
On her performance, including a career-high 14 rebounds
“I wasn't really hitting too many shots from the floor so I figured I should pick it up somewhere else and help the team however I could. I was just going hard the whole way.
Talking about facing Furman
Furman shoots very well so we know there is no time where we can just slack off. I just go hard when I'm in there and hopefully my intensity carries the rest of the team.
About the upcoming match-up with Western Carolina
“We just have to be ready because Western Carolina is big for us after last year's conference final. We all want it very badly so we'll go in there knowing that any game on the road isn't going to be easy. We'll have to play good defense and play our game to get it done”.
