
Cougar Equestrian Wins Sixth Consecutive Title with Win at CofC Spring Show

The College of Charleston equestrian team clinched its sixth consecutive Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone Five Region Three Championship with a win at the CofC Spring Show Saturday, Mar. 6 is Storybook Farms. The Cougars posted a 39-36 win over the Savannah School of Art and Design (SCAD). Central Florida finished third with 28 points.
Class winners for the Cougars included Crystal Threlfall (Ridgefiled, Conn.) who took first in the Open Fences. Emily McKee (Redding, Conn.) earned first in the Intermediate Fences, Section A, while Zoe Merritt (Southbury, Conn.) was first in the B Section. Allie Humphreys (Charlottesville, Va.) placed first in the Novice Fences, Section A.
Tatiana Calvo (Princeton Junction, N.J.) placed first in the Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter, Section A, with Emily Nellermoe (Columbia, S.C.) earning first in Section B.
Qualifying for the IHSA Regionals was Wesley Laudeman (Cape May, N.J.) in the Open Flat, Rachel Kutler (Columbia, Md.) and McKenzie Armour (Murrells Inlet, S.C.) in the Novice Flat, Meredith Kaywood (Atlanta, Ga.) in the Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter and Threlfall in the Open Fences.
The Cougars will next compete in the IHSA Zone Five, Region Three Regional Championship on Sunday March 7 at SCAD in Savannah, Ga.
