
Cougars to Host Eagles Wednesday

The College of Charleston women's basketball team will look to snap its eight-game losing skid with a Jan. 19th contest against Georgia Southern. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. at the Carolina First Arena.
The Eagles (8-10, 5-4) are 27-12 against the Cougars (4-13, 1-7) in the overall series, including a 2-1 mark last season. It was Georgia Southern that knocked Charleston out of the 2010 Southern Conference tournament, taking a 57-56 decision in the Quarterfinals.
The Cougars returned home Jan. 15th for the first time in almost a month, and fell to the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 45-50, in their last game. Leading the way was Janae Smith (Matteson, Ill.) with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Two Cougars are averaging in double-figures this season with Smith leading the pack at 11.9 a game. Tonia Gerty (Port Orange, Fla.) is second with 10.4. Smith also holds the top spot in rebounds with 5.9.
The Eagles have won their past three games in a row, including a 69-64 overtime victory against Western Carolina Jan. 14th. Jamie Navarro leads GSU with 12.7 points a game. MiMi Dubose follows with 11.1. Krista Tate paces the team in rebounds with 6.0 a game.
