
Smith Concludes Season at NCAA Regional

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior Emily Smith (Rock Hill, S.C.) wrapped up her season as she competed in the high jump at the NCAA East Prelim Friday.
Smith, who won the indoor and outdoor titles in the high jump at the Southern Conference Championships finished 39th in the competition with a clearance of 1.67 meters (5.47 feet).
Smith cleared the opening height on her first attempt, but could not clear the next height of 1.72 meters. The winning height was 1.81 meters.
"It was wonderful being here these last few days," Smith said. "I always enjoy the competition and if you're going to be the best you have to compete with the best."
Smith also talked about her last year on the team and what she could miss the most.
"I'm so grateful for the senior year I've had and I could not ask for more," she said. "My teammates and coaches have meant the world to me and it's been a great experience being on this team."
