Freshman Lead for Cougars on Day Two of SoCon Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - College of Charleston freshman Rachel Leder and Roshani Glover each scored points for the Cougars as the women's track & field team concluded competition at the Southern Conference Championships on Sunday.
As a team the Cougars finished seventh-place overall with 18 points.
Leder finished in sixth-place in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.29 seconds. Leder was the second best freshman in the event, earning her a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman team for the 60-meter hurdles.
Glover finished fifth-place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.54 meters, the fifth best mark in school history for the indoor triple jump competition.
Sophomore Hayley McMahon competed in the finals of the 800-meter run and finished eighth in 2:20.34 to score a point for the Cougars.
In the Cougars final event, the 4X400-meter relay they finished ninth in 4:04.82, the fifth best time in school history for the relay.
"I thought our freshman showed great composure for their first collegiate conference championship," CofC head coach Amy Seago said. "We have some work to do, but this is a good place to build from going into the outdoor season."
Up next the Cougars begin the outdoor season March 8 as they host the Palmetto Classic at the Park West track in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
