Top 5 Finish For Cougars at ICSA Match Race Nationals

CHARLESTON, S.C. – In one of its final competition weekends of the fall, the College of Charleston coed, women's and match racing teams wrapped up three regattas this weekend up-and-down the East Coast.
After three days of intense competition against nine other top collegiate match racing teams in the nation, junior Ryan Davidson (Newport Beach, Calif.), freshman Christophe Killian, senior All-American Ali Blumenthal (Bellport, N.Y.) and junior Jake Reynolds (San Diego, Calif.) led the CofC fleet to a fifth-place finish at the ICSA Match Race National Championship hosted by Seawannakha in New York, N.Y.
At the Atlantic Coast Coed Championships, the No. 2-ranked Cougars placed 10th overall in the 13-race series hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
Senior Nick Johnstone (Newport, R.I.) skippered A-Division to an eighth-place finish with junior crew Emily Stuart (Newport, R.I.), while junior Dodge Rees (Pensacola, Fla.) skippered B-Division to a sixth-place finish with senior crew Tierney Driscoll (Bayport, N.Y.).
Meanwhile, the No. 9-ranked CofC women wrapped up fall competition by securing an 11th-place finish and beating out seven other top women's teams in the country at the Atlantic Coast Women's Championship hosted by MIT in Boston, Mass.
In A-Division, senior skipper Clerc Cooper (New Orleans, La.) and sophomore crew Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.) placed ninth with 170 points, while junior skipper Beka Schiff (Tampa, Fla.) and senior crew Morgan Buckley (Yonkers, N.Y.) placed 11th in B-Division with 188 points.
Up next, the Cougars will close out the calendar year with the ICSA Sloop Nationals hosted by Seawannakha on Nov. 21-23 in New York, N.Y.
