Cougars Win Seventh-Straight SAISA Fall Coed Title

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – For the seventh-consecutive year, the No. 2-ranked College of Charleston coed sailing team won the SAISA Fall Coed Dinghy Championship title with a 10-point victory over host Eckerd College.
The Cougars tallied 16 points in A-Division and 12 points in B-Division for a low score of 28 in the 12-team in-district regatta field. Eckerd was second with 38 points, South Florida in third (46), Miami (Fla.) in fourth (77) and Jacksonville in fifth (78). They have now won the fall event dating back to the 2008-09 season.
Championing CofC to victory over the Fall Break was junior Jake Reynolds (San Diego, Calif.), who skippered A-Division to a first-place finish with the crew of junior Beka Schiff (Tampa, Fla.) in races 1-2 and senior All-American Ali Blumenthal (Bellport, N.Y.) in races 3-7.
Junior Ryan Davidson (Newport Beach, Calif.) also skippered B-Division to a first-place finish in the seven-race series with junior crew Emily Stuart (Newport, R.I.).
The Cougars will next travel to the Kennedy Offshore Cup hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy on Nov. 7-9 in Annapolis, Md., and the ICSA Singlehanded Nationals hosted by Western Washington on Nov. 8-9 in Bellingham, Wash.
