LONG BEACH, Calif. – The College of Charleston coed sailing team kicked off 2015 this past weekend at the 30th annual Rose Bowl Regatta hosted by the University of Southern California at the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club.
In one of college sailing's largest events, the Cougars placed a respectable ninth overall in a field that featured 30 teams from across the country. Georgetown won its second-consecutive Rose Bowl regatta.
In A-Division, junior Jack Jorgenson (La Canada, Calif.) and sophomore Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.) finished 12th with 100 points. In B-Division, the freshman duo of Christophe Killian and Grace McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.) led the Cougars to a fifth-place finish with 49 points.
The regatta served as the final fall season competition and CofC will return to action in the spring in early February.
