CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston coed and women's sailing teams finished fifth and 12th respectively at the Atlantic Coast Championships held over the weekend in Virginia and Maryland.
The Cougars' Top 5-finish in the 18-team, coed ACC regatta can be credited to the team work of senior Jake Reynolds (San Diego, Calif.), junior Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.), senior Dodge Rees (Pensacola, Fla.), senior Seppie McAdams (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) and senior Emily Stuart (Newport, R.I.).
Reynolds and Dapp placed eighth in A-Division, while Rees, Stuart and McAdams were three points shy of first place in B-Division behind the U.S. Coast Guard Academy – who defeated Yale, Georgetown, Boston College and CofC for the team title.
The CofC women placed 12th of 18 teams at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland in St. Mary's, Md. Sailing for the Cougars were senior skipper Beka Schiff (Tampa, Fla.), sophomore crew Grace McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.) and freshman crew Annabel Carrington (White Stone, Va.) in A-Division as well as sophomore skipper Elizabeth Pemberton (Osterville, Mass.), freshman crew Sarah Wilkinson (Mystic, Conn.) and freshman crew Caroline Bracken in B-Division.
The Cougars have two more fall events left on their calendar including the ICSA Match Race National Championship to be held on Nov. 20-22 at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
