DELAND, FLA. – Despite an early goal from junior Riley Narum in the 23rd minute, the College of Charleston women's soccer fell, 2-1, to Stetson behind two second-half goals from Adrianna Suarez.
“Tough night for the Cougars, said head coach Christian Michner. “We were pretty poor in most areas of the game tonight. Credit to Stetson for playing hard and getting the job done, but I expect a lot more out of my team than we saw tonight. We were just not at our best and at this level you need to in order to win games. It's a tough lesson to learn, but we will pick ourselves up and be better after this loss.”
Narum's goal in the 23rd minute was set up on freshmen Laura Ortega's third assist of the season. The Cougars move to 3-3 on the season.
The Hatters came out firing in the second half launching 11 shots. Just three minutes into the second half, Adrianna Suarez tied the game for the Hatters 1-1 in the 48th minute. Suarez found the back of the net for a second time in the 69th minute.
The Cougars return home to Patriots Point on Tuesday, Sept. 15 against South Carolina St. at 7 p.m.
