CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team has been busy improving its 2017 roster over the offseason, and announced the addition of Chicago-native Talise Romain, a defender transferring from the Florida Gators.
"I'm grateful to all of my coaches and teammates from Florida for all that I've learned so far about college soccer," Romain said. "I was nervous about not fitting at Charleston, but Coach Michner, Coach Chao and all of my teammates have been so encouraging and supportive through this process that I couldn't be happier. I can't wait to see what this next chapter has in store for me."
Romain played in two matches as a freshman in 2014, and was forced to sit out the 2015 season with a lower body injury. Prior to her time with the Gators, she was a four-year player at Nequa Valley High School, where she helped guide the squad to three consecutive 3A regional championships, while earning a slew of All-Area, All-Conference and All-Sectional honors. Romain was recognized a four-star recruit by TopDrawerSoccer.com and went on to participate in the Olympic Development Program for several years.
"Talise is a fantastic addition to our program," head coach Christian Michner said. "She's a tremendous player and will fit in with our group right away. She brings some special qualities and we're really excited that she will continue her soccer career at the College of Charleston."
