
Cougars Take Second at Rose Bowl Regatta

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The College of Charleston sailing team finished 11 points behind Georgetown University at the 2017 Rose Bowl Regatta Sunday, as the Cougars amassed 35 points to beat out 28-of-29 of the top teams in the nation at the U.S. Sailing Center.
Georgetown claimed first place with 24 points through six races across two divisions, while Charleston and Santa Barbara City finished in a tie for second place with 35 points each. Eckerd and Cornell rounded out the top five with 37 and 40 points, respectively.
Freshman skipper Steven Leuck (San Diego, Calif.) and junior crew Grace McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.) totaled 15 points in A-Division – the second lowest total behind Georgetown in the division's three races. The Cougars' duo of freshman Patrick Shannon (Newport Beach, Calif.) and freshman crew Maddy Nadelman (Newport Beach, Calif.). totaled 20 points in B-Division's three races.
The College is back in action next month for the start of the spring season in St. Petersburg, Fla. at the SAISA Open, hosted by Eckerd College, on February 18 and 19.
