BROOKLET, Ga. – The College of Charleston equestrian team won its spring opener at the Georgia Southern Show held at Evermore Farm.
The Cougars posted 35 points followed by host Georgia Southern with 28 points. Junior Rio Parker (Baltimore, Md.) won Intermediate Fences and freshman Molly Coyle (Davidsonville, Md.) followed that up with a win in Novice Fences.
Freshman Annika Vilcins (Wilmington, N.C.) won Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter and freshman Elif Caynak closed out the day with a win in Walk/Trot.
"I think all the teams competing today would probably like a do-over," CofC Head Coach Bob Story said. "Nobody dominated the day and we did just enough to win. The girls rode well and were pinned accordingly. It was really interesting to watch all the missed opportunities for all the teams."
The College will compete next at the Lander Show on Saturday, Feb. 18 in Greenwood, S.C.
