
Cougars Complete Historic Weekend

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The College of Charleston sailing team completed the busiest weekend in program history on Sunday, as the Cougars raced at five regattas throughout the United States – highlighted by a third-place performance at the Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup.
The Cougars finished in a tie for second at the Harbor Cup alongside the University of South Florida with 22 points – three points shy of first-place California Maritime Academy's total of 19 points. Driver Jordan Wiggins (York, S.C.) led the Cougars' contingent, with Will Hundahl (Marblehead, Mass.) at main trimmer, Sean Hannigan (Annapolis, Md.) at primary trimmer, Keenan Hilsinger (Brooklin, Maine) at secondary trimmer, Corinne Durocher (Monroe, Mich.) at pit, Scott Nord (Knoxville, Tenn.) at mast, Liam Harr (Annapolis, Md.) at bow, and Sam Tobio (Sarasota, Fla.) at alternate.
At the Charleston Spring Coed, the Cougars finished sixth out of 18 teams with 234 points. Charlie Morano (Edgartown, Mass.) anchored A-Division with a tandem crew of sophomore Clare Perry (Wilmette, Ill.) and freshman Patrick Shannon (Newport Beach, Calif.), and accumulated 139 points. Sophomore skipper Gerald Williams (Sai Kung, Hong Kong, China), along with sophomore crew Peyton Alexander and Mac Dickson (Alexandria, Va.), tied for first in B-Division with 95 points.
In Washington, D.C., the Cougars finished sixth at the John Jackson Memorial Team Race with a 4-6 record. Sophomore RJ Porter (Fontana, Wis.), junior Jack Thompson (Newport Beach, Calif.), and freshman Nicolas Muller (Fort Pierce, Fla.) skippered for the Cougars, with Liza Toppa, sophomore Hannah Baylis (Tiburon, Calif.), and Laura Masterson (Kemah, Texas) serving as crew.
The Cougars placed ninth at the St. Mary's Team Race in St. Mary's, Md. with a 3-6 record. Junior Christophe Killian (Newport Beach, Calif.), senior Jack Cusick (Fairfield, Conn.), and junior Stefano Peschiera (Lima, Peru) served as skippers, alongside crew of senior Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.), junior Grace McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.), Elizabeth Pemberton (Osterville, Mass.), Parker Loftus, and Erik Xiao.
At the Navy Spring Women's in Annapolis, Md., the Cougars finished 15th with 256 points – one ahead of George Washington and 11 shy of Fordham. Allie Toppa skippered A-Division to 141 points with sophomore crew Caroline Bracken (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Annabel Carrington (White Stone, Va.). In B-Division, junior skipper Paris Henken (Coronado, Calif.) and senior crew Irene Abascal (Guatemala City, Guatemala) represented the Cougars with 115 points.
Three regattas await the Cougars next weekend, including: North Points #3 on Saturday in Atlanta, Ga., Graham Hall Team Race on Saturday and Sunday in Annapolis, Md., and St. Mary's Women's on Saturday and Sunday in St. Mary's, Md.
