Cougars Cruise To Victory At North Points #3

ATLANTA, Ga. – The College of Charleston sailing team cruised to an easy victory at the North Points #3 on Saturday, and finished the weekend in second at the St. Mary's Women's Interconference and 13th at the Graham Hall Team Race.
The Cougars made quick work of the field at North Points #3 in Atlanta, Ga. on Saturday, finishing with 24 points – 13 ahead of second-place South Carolina. Freshman Nicole Simon (Coronado, Calif.) skippered the Cougars to 13 points in A-Division with sophomore crew Maura Lonergan (Marion, Mass.). In B-Division, freshman skipper Jonathan Noyes (Hopesdale, Mass.) and crew Max Williams accumulated 11 points.
At St. Mary's, the Cougars finished 11 points behind first-place Boston College with 161 points – including a weekend-best 65 points in B-Division. Allie Toppa skippered A-Division to 95 points alongside sophomore crew Annabel Carrington (White Stone, Va.) and Caroline Bracken (Bridgewater, Mass.). In B-Division, junior skipper Paris Henken (Coronado, Calif.) and a crew of senior Irene Abascal (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and freshman Kelly-Ann Arrindell (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad) finished 13 points clear of Brown to push the Cougars into second overall.
The Cougars sailed to a record of 6-9 at the Graham Hall Team Race in Annapolis, Md., which was good for 13th. Skippers Jack Cusick (Fairfield, Conn.), Christophe Killian (Newport Beach, Calif.), and Stefano Peschiera (Lima, Peru) represented The College alongside crew of Chloe Dapp (Newport Beach, Calif.), Elizabeth Pemberton (Osterville, Mass.), and Grace McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.).
Charleston will race in three regattas next weekend: Admiral Moore Team Race on March 25-26 in New York, N.Y.; SAISA Women's on March 25 at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex; and the Szambecki Team Race on March 25-26 in Norfolk, Va.
