
Rainey and Fuenfstueck Sweep CAA Weekly Awards

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston's William Rainey (Charlotte, N.C.) and Laura Fuenfstueck (Langen, Germany) swept the Colonial Athletic Association Men's and Women's Golfer of the Week awards on Wednesday.
Rainey turned in his sixth Top-15 finish of the season at The Schenkel Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern on March 17-19 in Statesboro, Ga. He tied for 12th and finished 4-under par for the tournament in the 80-player field. Rainey shot rounds of 68, 70 and 74 and was the top finisher for the Cougars. The competitive field included seven top-50 teams including No. 1 Vanderbilt.
Fuenfstueck finished as the runner-up shooting 4-under par at the two-day Briar's Creek Invitational held on March 20-21 at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek on Johns Island, S.C. Maria Torres of No. 12 Florida , ranked No. 12 nationally, won individual medalist honors with a final-round 69 to seal the three-stroke victory (-7) over Fuenfstueck, who shot rounds of 68, 69 and 75. It marked her fifth top-five finish this season having placed third-or-better in each of those five starts for the Cougars. For the tournament, Fuenfstueck was second in most pars made (40) and led in par-3 scoring. Her first-round 68 was the second-lowest round behind Torres' first-round 66 – one of 12 Top-100 ranked players in the 93-player field.
This is Rainey's third career weekly honor from the conference and Fuenfstueck's 14th of her career.
