
Long-Time Cougar Club Donor Blankenship ('82) Passes Away

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Athletics is saddened by the loss of Terry Blankenship ('82), a long-time Cougar Club donor and supporter of the College of Charleston men's basketball program.
A United States Navy veteran, Blankenship passed away on June 16, 2017, at the age of 83. After retiring from the service in 1978, he earned his bachelor's degree in education (history emphasis) from The College and went on to teach U.S. History locally at Middleton High School.
An avid golfer, Blankenship was a Top Cat donor and was lovingly known as the man with the white (good luck) hat at home basketball games at John Kresse Arena and TD Arena. He had not missed a home game to support his Cougars for more than 30 years.
The Mannington, West Virginia, native is survived by his wife, Blanche Elnora Parish of 58 years, daughters Ellie Harr (Vernon), Marti Tittle (George), sister Susie Balentine (Jerry), 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 24 great great-grandchildren.
Blankenship's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, at Folly Beach Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall.
