Equestrians Win Nine Blue Ribbons at Clemson IHSA Show

CLEMSON, S.C. – This past weekend, the College of Charleston equestrian team won nine blue ribbons and placed fifth on Day One of the Clemson IHSA Show and third on Day Two at the Clemson Equine Center.

For the second-straight show, sophomore Lauren Duffy (Alexandria, Va.) blue-ribboned in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter. First-place finishes on Day One of competition were also turned in by sophomore Allyson Pace (Charlotte, N.C.) in Novice Over Fences, senior Shannon Rice (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) in Open Flat and sophomore Beverly Davis in Intermediate Flat.

On Day Two, CofC had five blue-ribbon rides – junior Gabrielle Bernier (Parkton, Md.) in Intermediate Over Fences, junior Molly Coyle (Davidsonville, Md.) in Novice Over Fences, junior Dorian Cieslak (Altamonte Spring, Fla.) in Open Flat, freshman Morgan Hazeltine (Hingham, Mass.) in Beginning Walk/Trot/Canter and sophomore Makenna Grierson (Laguna Beach, Calif.) in Novice Flat.

"Our student-athletes showed huge improvements in their riding and also in their confidence," CofC Head Coach Natasha V. McCarthy said. "Overall, we were fifth on Day One and third on Day Two. I am super proud of them."
