
Cougars Open Spring Season With Two Wins

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. --- The College of Charleston sailing team cruised to a pair of wins on Saturday and Sunday to open the spring season.
The Cougars kicked off the weekend with a win at the SCOR offshore race at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex, beating out top-five finishers California Maritime Academy, Navy, Florida State, and Vanderbilt. At the shortened SAISA Open in St. Petersburg, Fla., the Cougars took home a 10-point victory when the event was called after four rotations. In A-Division, Patrick Shannon (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Clare Perry (Wilmette, Ill.) finished second with 16 points, while Jack Brown (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Oliver Parsons (Stonington, Conn.) won B-Division with 14 points.
The Cougars will compete in three regattas next weekend: the Frostbite Offshore at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex on Saturday, February 24; the Mendelblatt Team Race on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25 in St. Petersburg, Fla.; and the Phebe Corckran King Women's at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25.
