CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's golf team looks to defend its title for the fifth-straight year as the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship gets underway on April 20-22 at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
The par-72 course, which is the home facility for NC State, will play at 7,358 yards. Under Head Coach Mark McEntire, the Cougars have won every tournament title since CofC joined the Colonial in 2013.
Charleston will have heavy competition for a repeat from UNCW, who comes into the tournament as the top-seeded team with a Golfstat national ranking of No. 65 and CofC No. 84.
While there are no seniors on this year's roster, the Cougars will start a young, but seasoned lineup comprised of sophomore Hunter Dunagan (Augusta, Ga.), sophomore Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.), sophomore Colin Hamilton (Southlake, Texas), sophomore Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.) and freshman Reed Bentley (Spartanburg, S.C.).
Dunagan and Sass both played on the 2017 squad, which won the CAA title and advanced to NCAA Regionals. Hamilton is a transfer from Oklahoma State and Sowell is the reigning CAA Men's Golfer of the Week.
"It is championship week and we have been thinking about this tournament all spring," McEntire said. "I feel like we have played solid and had some great individual performances. I am looking forward to having it all come together this week."
The Cougars will tee-off the No. 1 tomorrow beginning at 8:00 a.m. (ET) with UNCW and Drexel. Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
