
The Cougar Club Adds Creeron and Spellman To Staff

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Cougar Club has added two new members to its staff with the hiring of Development Officer Matt Creeron and Development Associate Megan Spellman.
A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which has served as the fundraising arm for College of Charleston Athletics for over 40 years, The Cougar Club provides financial support for student-athlete scholarships, in addition to sport specific fundraising and athletic facility improvements.
"The addition of Matt and Megan to The Cougar Club allows us to be fully staffed to support the short-and long-term growth and success of College of Charleston Athletics," said Jerry Baker, Executive Director of The Cougar Club. "Both bring a new level of experience and energy to continue in our quest to build and sustain a competitive athletics program in the Colonial Athletics Association and NCAA through charitable donations of alumni, friends and fans."
Prior to CofC, Creeron served as a Development Assistant for The Deacon Club at Wake Forest University, the athletic department's fundraising arm for student-athletes. There, he assisted with analytics, the annual fund and special events.
A 2016 graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Creeron earned his bachelor's degree in sports studies with a concentration in sports management and a minor in marketing. Looking to pursue a career in college athletics, he attended graduate school and later completed his MBA degree from St. Bonaventure in 2017.
Throughout his undergraduate time at St. Bonaventure, Creeron was heavily involved with the marketing and promotions side of the athletics department. In that role, he led a group of students to implement in-game promotions for all 16 sports. While obtaining his master's degree, he served as a graduate assistant and assisted in all areas of the department.
A native of East Northport, N.Y., Creeron is looking forward to meeting donors and staff, while also exploring the great city of Charleston.
Spellman is primarily responsible for assisting the Executive Director, Director of Development and Board of Directors achieve specific annual revenue goals and carry out the implementation of fundraising and resource development activities.
She will also coordinate special events, game day hospitality management, donor cultivation & stewardship, and marketing & communications for the athletic department's fundraising arm.
Prior to joining The Cougar Club, Spellman served as Membership Sales & Marketing Coordinator for The One Hundred Club in Portsmouth, N.H.
A 2016 graduate of the University of New Hampshire and originally from Waterford, Conn., she earned her bachelor's degree in program & event management. Spellman also minored in sport studies and has been involved with sports her whole life.
