Cougars Awarded No. 8 Seed For CCSA Beach Volleyball Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. --- The College of Charleston beach volleyball team has been awarded the No. 8 seed for this weekend's Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Beach Volleyball Championships, and will face No. 1 Florida State and No. 12 Southern Mississippi in Group One during pool play on Friday.
The Cougars enter the CCSA Championships with a single-season program record 18-2 mark, and are receiving the most votes outside of the top 20 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Collegiate Beach Volleyball Poll this week. Charleston is coming off perhaps its most complete weekend of the season after going 4-0 at the Palmetto Invitational in Columbia, S.C. with wins over Tulane and No. 11 South Carolina.
Pool play begins on Friday morning with group one consisting of No. 1 Florida State, No. 8 Charleston, and No. 12 Southern Mississippi. Second-seeded LSU is joined in group two by No. 7 TCU and No. 11 UNCW, while No. 3 Florida International, No. 6 Florida Atlantic, and No. 10 UAB make up group three. Group four consists of No. 4 South Carolina, No. 5 Georgia State, and No. 9 Tulane.
Following the completion of pool play on Friday, the teams finishing second in each pool will face off against a third-place finisher from another pool in an elimination round. The winners of each elimination match will then advance to Saturday afternoon's quarterfinal round against the top teams from each pool. The semifinal round will take place on Sunday at 10:00 a.m., followed by the championship match at 12:00 p.m.
Charleston will open the CCSA Championships with pool play matches against No. 12 Southern Mississippi on Friday at 12:00 p.m., and No. 1 Florida State at 3:00 p.m. at the LakePoint Sporting Community in Emerson, Ga.
