OPELIKA, Ala. – College of Charleston's Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) closed out her junior season with a Top 25 individual finish at the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Auburn Regional held at the Saugahatchee Country Club.
Huskey shot rounds of 76, 69 and 75 to finish at 4-over par for the tournament and tied for 23rd with No. 37-ranked Abbey Carlson of Vanderbilt, Laura Van Respaille of Maryland, Amelia Williamson of Florida State and Beth Lillie of Virginia.
The 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Year birdied two holes on the front nine during the final round on Wednesday. It marked her second-straight NCAA Regionals appearance next to the Cougars competing as a team last year at the 2018 NCAA Tallahassee Regional. Huskey is one of only four players in program history to have competed at NCAA Regionals as an individual.
"Victoria played well today, but putts did not fall," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "A Top 25 finish in this field is quite an accomplishment though."
Vanderbilt, Florida State, top-seeded Duke, Virginia, Auburn and Tennessee were the advancing teams out of the NCAA Auburn Regional to nationals along with individuals Linette Holmslykke of Murray State, Virunpat Olankitkunchai of Maryland and Angelica Moresco, Alabama.
The 96-player field included 28 Top 100-ranked players to which Huskey finished better than 17 of the nation's best.
