Cougars Cap Solid Weekend at Danmark Trophy, Women's Showcase Semifinal

NEW LONDON, Conn. --- The College of Charleston turned in solid performances at the Danmark Trophy and North Points #4 on Saturday and Sunday, and finished sixth at the Women's Showcase Semifinals to qualify for the finals in two weeks in New London, Conn.
The Cougars finished second at North Points #4 on Saturday in Wilmington, N.C. with second-place showings in both A- and B-Divisions. Charleston totaled 26 points to finish five points behind regatta winner NC State. Ryan Ratliffe skippered CofC to 14 points in A-Division alongside crew Emmi Triplett, as skipper Jack Howard and crew Elizabeth DiPietro sailed to 12 points in B-Division.
Charleston continued the weekend with a fifth-place performance at the ever-competitive Danmark Trophy on Saturday and Sunday in New London, Conn. Jack Brown skippered the Cougars to 147 points and a fifth-place finish in A-Division with crews Katie Lounsbury and Max Williams sailing 18 and two races respectively. The Cougars placed seventh in B-Division with skipper Alie Toppa and crews Noelle Owen and Jack Sutton accumulating 147 points.

Junior Marian Williams skippered CofC to 64 points and a second-place performance in B-Division. Natasha Scott Morton crewed seven races and Emily Essi sailed in eight. Skipper Nicole Simon teamed with crews Hannah Kinder and Julia Jeffries for 145 points in A-Division.
Charleston is next scheduled to sail in the Coed Showcase Semifinals on Saturday, October 5 in Annapolis, Md.
