CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston equestrian team will open its spring season at the Georgia Southern Spring Horse Show on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Evermore Farm in Brooklet, Ga.

In the fall, the Cougars turned in three reserve-champion finishes and won Day One of the South Carolina Horse Show in October.

Seniors
Molly Coyle (Davidsonville, Md.),
Gabrielle Bernier (Parkton, Md.) and
Olivia Baldwin (Potomac, Md.) lead the way and will compete in the Intermediate Fences, Intermediate Flat and Open Flat classes respectively.
Last year, Coyle earned high-point rider honors with blue-ribbon rides in Novice Over Fences and Novice Flat.

"We are excited for the spring season to begin," CofC Head Coach
Natasha V. McCarthy said. "All of our efforts are geared toward an overall team win at Georgia Southern. We have chosen the right combination, therefore, we are on a serious mission to begin this season strong and to lay down some confident rides."

Meanwhile, the junior class will be represented at the show with
Brooke Hayes (Harwich, Mass.) in Introductory Flat,
Lauren Duffy (Alexandria, Va.) in Novice Flat,
Allyson Pace (Charlotte, N.C.) in Limit Over Fences,
Makenna Grierson (Laguna Beach, Calif.) in Intermediate Flat and
Beverly Davis (Concord, N.C.) in Intermediate Flat and Open Fences.

After strong showings in the fall, sophomores
Morgan Hazeltine (Hingham, Mass.) will compete in Novice Flat,
Winter Hein (Buffalo, N.Y.) in Limit Over Fences and
Kate Coffey (Westford, Mass.) in Open Flat and Over Fences.

Riding in the Intermediate Fences class will be freshman
Emma Avent (Arlington, Va.), while freshman
Lauren Katz (Potomac, Md.), sophomore
Kendra de Graaf (Fort Mill, S.C.) and sophomore
Jennifer Haines (Millstone, N.J.) all compete in Limit Flat this weekend.
