WILLIAMSBURG, Va. --- Gabi Bailey, Anna Smith and Lexi Wierzbicki each put down nine kills to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a straight-set sweep of William & Mary on Saturday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association play.

Charleston (9-7, 2-3 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 25-21 while combining for a .296 hitting percentage. The Cougars held William & Mary (3-5, 0-3 CAA) to a .119 attacking clip and forced the Tribe into 22 hitting errors.

Critical Point
With the score knotted at 3-3 early in set two, Bailey connected for a well-placed kill to spark a 10-4 run that gave the Cougars a 13-7 lead. Charleston would go on to win the set, 25-13, to take a commanding 2-0 advantage in the match.

Key Cougars

Wierzbicki hit .353 with nine kills on 17 swings and added two key blocks.
Bailey finished with nine kills and hit .333 with three digs and one block.
Smith added nine kills of her own to go along with four digs and two stuffs.
Jasmin Goei dished out 29 assists and also chipped in six digs.
Rebeca Olariu and Tynley Smeltzer accumulated eight and seven digs, respectively.
Molly Russell put down five kills on eight swings without an error.

Game Notes

The Cougars finished with a side-out percentage of 69.1 including back-to-back sets at 71 percent in the second and third frames.
Charleston posted a blistering .435 hitting percentage in the third set with 13 kills on 23 swings.
The sweep marks the first for Charleston this season and ninth in the all-time series against William & Mary.
