
Cougars Cruise to Saturday Sweep of Tribe

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. --- Gabi Bailey, Anna Smith and Lexi Wierzbicki each put down nine kills to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a straight-set sweep of William & Mary on Saturday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association play.
Charleston (9-7, 2-3 CAA) won the match by scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 25-21 while combining for a .296 hitting percentage. The Cougars held William & Mary (3-5, 0-3 CAA) to a .119 attacking clip and forced the Tribe into 22 hitting errors.
Critical Point
With the score knotted at 3-3 early in set two, Bailey connected for a well-placed kill to spark a 10-4 run that gave the Cougars a 13-7 lead. Charleston would go on to win the set, 25-13, to take a commanding 2-0 advantage in the match.

The Cougars and Tribe will meet in the second match of the weekend series on Sunday afternoon. First serve is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Kaplan Arena in Williamsburg, Va.
