
Cougars Post Three Top-Threes at Fall 2v2, Atlantic Coast Tournament

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston sailing team turned in a trio of top-three performances on another busy weekend that saw the Cougars place second and third at the SAISA Fall 2v2 Team Race on Saturday in addition to a third-place finish at the Atlantic Coast Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
The Cougars' coed team consisting of freshmen Charlie McKenzie (skipper) and Ethan Homberger (skipper), sophomore Garrett Grenauer (crew) and freshman Nina Lubcheno (crew) finished second at the SAISA Fall 2v2 Team Race on Saturday at The Citadel with a 5-1 record. Charleston's women's team, consisting of senior Kiera O'Reardon (skipper), freshman Grace Beard (skipper), junior Anna Sherry (crew) and freshman Sophia Browne (crew) placed third with a 4-1 record.
Charleston recorded its third top-three finish of the weekend with a third-place finish at the Atlantic Coast Tournament on Sunday. The Cougars totaled 102 points from eight rotations to finish six points behind regatta winner NY Maritime. Sophomore Max Anker led CofC to an eight-point win in B-Division winning the last four races alongside fellow sophomore crew Kalea Woodard. Junior skipper Taylor Hasson and senior crew Adrianna Lee accumulated 72 points in A-Division.
The Cougars also competed at the Yale Women's finishing 13th with 250 points. Sophomores Grace Squires (races 1-6) and Rowan Schanley (races 7-15) skippered CofC to 123 points in A-Division alongside sophomore crew Chloe Hudgins. Freshman skipper Fredrikke Foss and sophomore crew Lucy Klempen accounted for 127 points in B-Division.
Charleston returns to the water on Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31 at the SAISA Fall Women's Championships in St. Petersburg, Fla. and on Saturday at the SAISA Fall Coed Championships in Wilmington, N.C.
