
Cougars Claim SAISA Fall Coed

WILMINGTON, N.C. --- The College of Charleston sailing team collected its second regatta victory in as many weeks behind another stellar performance from sophomore skipper Max Anker at the SAISA Fall Coed Championship on Saturday and Sunday. Charleston also placed fourth at the SAISA Women's Championship on Saturday.
Anker, with fellow sophomore Kalea Woodard crewing, delivered a six-point win in A-Division at the SAISA Fall Coed to help the Cougars win the regatta by 12 points over North Carolina State with 79 points from 11 rotations. The duo of Anker and Woodard won two races while finishing lower than fourth only twice. Sophomore Axel Stordahl skippered the Cougars to second place in B-Division with 41 points alongside junior crew Noelle Owen. Stordahl and Owen won three races and totaled 10 top-five's.
The Cougars finished fourth at the SAISA Fall Women's Championship on Saturday with 64 points from eight rotations. Freshman skipper Fredrikke Foss and Owen placed fourth in B-Division with 29 points highlighted by a trio of second-place finishes. Senior Kiera O'Reardon skippered six of the eight races in A-Division with sophomore Rowan Schanley handling the tiller for races four and five, and Woodard crewing all eight races. The trio accumulated 35 points to finish fifth in the division.
Charleston's offshore team also competed at the Witches Brew, a CORA event held in Charleston. Soul, skippered by Megan Fetterley, finished sixth with a crew of Skye Erhardt at main, Julianna Corso at primary, Braden Johnson at secondary, Kate Schmiege at pit, Connor Marion at squirrel, Nick Dunphey at mast and Evan Chenard at bow. Cougar placed eighth with Emily Potter at skipper, Sean Groskoph at main, Hadley Walsh at squirrel, John McCarthy at primary, Maggie Wilcox at secondary, Emmi Triplett at pit, Garrett McKinnon at mast and Cade Morris at bow.
The Cougars will return to the water at the Kennedy Cup on Saturday, November 6 and Sunday, November 7 in Annapolis, Md.
