BOSTON, Mass. --- Junior Cat Schmid set a new four-set, single-match record with seven service aces and senior Molly Russell surpassed the 100-career block mark to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a four-set win over Northeastern on Saturday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association play.
With the win, Charleston (14-10, 7-6 CAA) clinches a spot in this season's CAA Championship field with three matches to play. The Cougars won the match by scores of 25-17, 13-25, 25-11 and 25-20 while establishing a new four-set, single-match team record with 13 service aces. Charleston finished the match with 40 kills, 13 blocks and a .121 hitting percentage while limiting Northeastern (11-12, 7-6 CAA) to 33 kills, nine blocks, seven aces and a .039 attacking clip.

With Northeastern leading 5-4 early in the third set, senior Brooke Harris subbed in and sparked the Cougars on a 10-0 run that included a pair of service aces. Charleston would cap the run with a solo block from Russell and go on to win the set, 25-11.
