CofC Begins Lengthy Road Trip at Stetson on Thursday Night

Tip off between the Cougs and Hatters is set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+
CHARLESTON, S.C. - CofC Basketball begins a three-game swing away from Charleston when the Cougars travel to Stetson on Thursday night. CofC and the Hatters tip-off at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Charleston enters the matchup on a two-game win streak and 7-3 overall.

STORYLINES
- Despite injuries to three starters and four players overall, Charleston Basketball staved off a pesky Presbyterian squad in overtime, 78-76, on Sunday. The Cougars improved to 3-1 in games decided by five or fewer points this season. Charleston also improved to 16-2 in its last 18 games against in-state opponents.
- At 7-3, CofC is off to its best start since the 2018-19 campaign. The Cougars have started 7-3 or better in four of the last six seasons.
- The Cougars are 2-2 on the road this season heading into Thursday's matchup at Stetson. CofC earned its second true road win of the season with a resounding 86-72 victory over Tulane in New Orleans on Dec. 7. The Cougars are seeking to secure a third true road win by Dec. 16 for the first time since 2012-13.
- CofC is 12-0 against Stetson in its Division I era and 15-7 all-time against the Hatters. The two squads have faced off just four times since 2013. Thursday marks the first meeting since Nov. 11, 2016 and the first meeting in Deland since Dec. 5, 2015. CofC hasn't lost to Stetson since 1973.
- Coach Kelsey improved to 17-2 all-time as a head coach against Presbyterian, winning his sixth straight on Sunday. The Cougars had guys step up and respond to adversity with three starters banged up. Brenden Tucker and Nick Farrar both made their first starts of the season and combined for 37 points. Senior walk-on Jordan Sechan made his first appearance and played 13 key minutes, including splashing his first trey as a Cougar.
- Despite the absence of three frontcourt starters on Sunday, CofC snagged 18 offensive rebounds. The Cougars rank 10th nationally in offensive rebounding with 14.7 per game. The Cougars' 41.8 rebounds per game also leads the CAA.
- Five weeks into the season, Charleston has snagged all five possible CAA Rookie of the Week awards. Freshmen Reyne Smith's four-week streak of earning the honor was snapped by his teammate Ben Burnham, who earned the award for the first time in his career.
- Junior Brenden Tucker is coming off a season-best 23-point performance vs. Presbyterian. After a 3-of-4 effort from three vs. the Blue Hose, he is now shooting a CAA-high 53.8 percent from beyond the arc. Charleston is leading the league in 3-point percentage (.367). The Cougars are also defending the 3 at an elite level, holding opponents to 32.3 percent shooting from deep.
