CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston beach volleyball program will play a challenging 2022 schedule that features a pair of home tournament and several newly minted conference foes in the Cougars' first season as a member of the Atlantic Sun announced head coach
Jason Kepner on Friday.
"I am really excited about this spring's schedule and for our transition to the ASUN Conference," Kepner said. "I feel we have some great competition and are traveling to a few new locations to compete. Opening the season at Stetson will be a great test for how our preparation went and where we need to improve for the rest of the season. Hosting two tournaments and bringing some great teams to Charleston will be fun for the fans to come out and watch as well. Overall it should be a great season for CofC beach volleyball."
The Cougars will open the 2022 season on February 25 and 26 at the Stetson Spring Fling where they will face Florida Gulf Coast, Mercer, South Carolina and host Stetson. Charleston will also compete in four additional tournaments on the road at Eckerd (Mar. 4-5), UNCW (Mar. 19-20), Coastal Carolina (Apr. 8-9) and South Carolina (Apr. 15-16) as well as a doubleheader with Saint Leo and Florida Southern in early May in Florida.
Charleston will host its first of two home tournaments on March 12 and 13 welcoming Jacksonville, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Gulf Coast and Morehead State to Creekside Tennis & Swim Club for the CofC Classic. The Cougars' second home tournament is scheduled for March 25-27 when Coach Kepner and CofC entertain UNCW, Erskine, Huntingdon, Tusculum, Texas A&M Kingsville and Catawba in the three-day CofC Beach Blast.
Coach Kepner and the Cougars will compete for the 2022 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship for the first time on April 22-25 in Huntsville, Ala. The 2022 NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship, scheduled for May 6-8 in Gulf Shores, Ala., will feature an expanded 16-team format – double the previous field of eight teams.
