Ali's 12 second-half points sparked CofC's rally

New Orleans – Fah'mir Ali scored all 12 of his points in the second half, including three 3-pointers in a 1:19 span late in the game, to power the College of Charleston to an 86-72 win over Tulane on Tuesday night at the Devlin Center.

The win, coupled with an 81-77 victory last week at TD Arena, gave the Cougars (6-3) a sweep of the home-and-home series with the Green Wave (3-6).

CofC trailed 34-30 at intermission before shooting 59.4 percent (19-of-32) over the final 20 minutes, including 8-of-16 from beyond the arc. The Cougars got baskets from seven different players over the first eight minutes of the second half, with Reyne Smith's 3-pointer giving them the lead for good at 47-45.

Ali made all four of his second half trifectas, and his consecutive baskets at the 5:20 and 4:54 marks boosted the Cougar advantage to 67-53. After a pair of Tulane buckets and two free throws by Babacar Faye, Ali finished his torrid run with another bomb to make it 72-57 with four minutes remaining.

Ali also dished out six of his season-high eight assists after the break. Smith led CofC with 15 points as five Cougars reached double figures. In addition to Smith and Ali, Brenden Tucker finished with 13, John Meeks had 11 and Faye tallied 10.

•   CofC owned a 40-29 advantage on the glass and has held the rebounding edge in seven of its nine games this season.
•   The Cougars dished out 21 assists among their 32 baskets, matching their season high set in the previous matchup against Tulane.
