AIKEN, S.C. – In only his second career start, freshman and No. 75-ranked Zach Reuland (Rock Hill, S.C.) turned in a Top-10 finish with a final-round, season-best 67 on the final day of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate held on Tuesday at the Palmetto Golf Club.
For the second-straight tournament, Reuland was the top finisher for the Cougars, who finished sixth with a 54-hole total of 848 (+8) in the 14-team field. No. 7-ranked Clemson won the team title.
Reuland made four birdies during the final round and eagled the par-5 10th. He finished in a tie for sixth and was one of 10 Top 100-ranked golfers in the 75-player field. At the Kiawah Island Invitational on Feb. 15-16, Reuland finished the tournament at 4-under par and the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate 3-under par.
"Zach's play today was emblematic of what he has been producing at home," CofC Head Coach Mitch Krywulycz said. "His length off the tee allowed him to hit some shots that are rarely seen in golf. With time and experience, Zach will produce many more Top 10s."
Graduate senior Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.) tied for 16th on the individual leaderboard, while graduate senior Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.) shot a final-round 71.
The Cougars will travel next to The Schenkel Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern on March 19-21 in Statesboro, Ga.
